We are guided by values of inclusivity, cultural preservation, entrepreneurship development, authenticity, and professionalism, as outlined in our manifesto below. These values are embedded in all aspects of our business and shape the role we seek to play in our society.

Our mission

Our mission is to spotlight the pivotal role within our city’s diverse communities, curating immersive and all-embracing food tours that celebrate African culinary traditions while empowering local businesses and communities in a respectful manner.

Our vision

Our vision is to create transformative food experiences that not only tantalise taste buds but also drive positive change in the spaces where we practise. Our aim is to play a transformative role by supporting local businesses, preserving cultural heritage, and fostering connections amongst our diverse community of South Africa. Our commitment to continually growing the reach of our positive impact inspired us to establish the African Fund Business Fund in 2024, a non-profit organisation that seeks to bridge the resource gaps of the African food businesses in the city centre.

We are committed to upholding high ethical standards and actively working against all forms of discrimination, including racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, and other biases. Our goal is to foster a welcoming and respectful environment for everyone. While we take pride in being South African, we also honour the invaluable contributions of both local residents and members of the African diaspora. We prioritise humility, respect, and inclusivity in all that we do. 

We strive to ensure that our tours are accessible to all, regardless of ability. We welcome guests with disabilities or mobility challenges and are dedicated to making reasonable adjustments for full participation and enjoyment. If you have specific accessibility needs, please inform us in advance, and we will make every effort to accommodate them. 

To cater to our diverse community, we offer tours in isiXhosa, English, and German. Translation services in French or other languages may also be arranged upon request, at an additional cost, payable in cash on the day of the tour. Please email us at least 48 hours in advance to request translation services. While availability is not guaranteed, we will do our utmost to assist. 

We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the rich flavours and stories of Cape Town’s culinary heritage. Whether you have dietary preferences, allergies, mobility challenges, or any other needs, we are here to ensure your tour is enjoyable and comfortable. Simply contact us, and we will work with you to create a memorable experience. For guests requiring a slower pace due to mobility challenges or age, we recommend considering a private tour at no extra cost, subject to availability and guide schedules. This option ensures comfort and enjoyment for all participants. We are devoted to ensuring that everyone can fully engage with and enjoy the journey. 

We maintain transparency in our pricing, policies, and communication, ensuring our guests are fully informed and treated with honesty and integrity throughout.

We are committed to preserving and promoting the culinary traditions and cultural heritage of Cape Town in a way that is inclusive and socially and ethically responsible. An inclusive and responsible way. This involves providing historical context and emphasising the cultural significance of specific dishes and ingredients, as food plays a vital role in community building and social cohesion.

Additionally, we aim to present a decolonised perspective on Cape Town’s history by critically addressing the legacies of colonialism and the post-apartheid era. By doing so we seek to raise awareness of socio-economic and spatial inequalities as well as contribute towards a just, safe, sustainable, and inclusive food ecosystem that respects both local African and immigrant food cultures.

We also support small food businesses in the city centre, particularly those from marginalised communities, so they contribute to Cape Town’s diverse culinary landscape.

We offer authentic African food tours that focus on genuine experiences. Unlike typical tourist attractions, we refrain from staging or contriving any aspect of the tour. Our commitment is to curate food tours that showcase the rich diversity of African cuisines and cultures in an engaging and immersive manner. We celebrate the traditions, flavours, and stories of both local African and diaspora communities in South Africa. Our tours provide real encounters with African cuisine and culture, inspiring adventure, passion, and joy, while remaining true to the authentic experience.

Our registered and certified tour guides pledge to adhere to the code of conduct stipulated by the Western Cape Government. Furthermore, we are dedicated to exceeding expectations for all our guests and suppliers, ensuring the highest standard of customer service, satisfaction, and professionalism. Committed to continuous improvement, we actively seek feedback from our guests and partners to enhance the quality of our tours and foster meaningful connections among people through the medium of food.
